So… I begrudgingly agreed to try Miller Union http://www.millerunion.com/site/ located in the trendy and cool West Midtown neighborhood in Atlanta, GA) with my dinner club (Dining Divas). To be completely honest, I wasn’t at all excited about it. Looking at the menu, I felt like I had been there a few times over… I didn’t care about my friend’s positive accounts of their dining experiences at Miller Union in the past or the many rumors of lines of people clamoring to get in the place on any given weekend. I just expected the place to be more of the same.
Boy…was I wrong. Turns out, the food was wonderful and the staff was very accommodating. I am delighted to say that Miller Union’s food is responsible for its continued success!! Unlike many places, MU is not benefiting from the ever-present “bandwagon riding” epidemic that has swept my great city and has allowed mediocre places to thrive.
I had the pork tenderloin and it was amazing…always willing to slather sweet chutney on pork, I was pleased by the sweet and tangy concoction that accompanied my protein. Around the table we tasted and commented on almost every entrée on the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The rabbit was a hit and the lamb sausage was smoky and bursting with flavor.
The skirt steak was well seasoned and the grouper was cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the grit fritters as an appetizer and ended the meal with several decadent desserts.
With great drinks and food equally as impressive, Miller Union lives up to the hype!
Tips: Make reservations, if you are bringing a child bring your own booster seat MU does not have high chairs, parking is available on the street or valet. Also, try the soda and ice cream selections, both are made on site.
